Da Start

Hello everyone this is gonna be the start of a biweekly blog that keeps you updated on everything mac. I hope to have all new mac software mentions along with everything else they produce. For the first one we are going to take a look into snow leopard.

Snow Leopard right off the bat seemed like a futile effort to many consumers mainly because its name still had refence to the previous OS. Apple didn't take a visible leap forward when they came out with snow leopard, infact most of the changes are behind the scenes. Some added features include:
-Finder is now written in Cocoa.
-Exchange Support in Mail, iCal, and address book.
-Completely written in 64-bit

The biggest feature of the $30 dollar upgrade is that it is now completely 64-bit compatible and programs that require massive amounts of ram now run more smoothly as all of the cores are utilized.
Aside from a few visual tweeks the interface has not changed at all in comaprisson to the Tiger-Leopard change.
Another Pro is that people have been claiming that the upgrade give back gigabytes of space back to you, although that is most likley due to the fact that snow leopard completely screws drivers over which leads us to the next section.

What prevents many people from buying snow leopard is that many programs were not ready to take it in and thus old drivers designed for 10.5 were earased because they were no compatible with snow leopard. This is a serious problem and until apple fixes it I refuse to load it on my main computer.

All in all as much as I adore apple snow leopard isnt worth buying at the moment because software hasnt fully adjusted to it.
